Do you use an enclosed transporter for classics?

Our standard fleet is open flatbed, which is what the majority of classic moves in this country travel on. Where a car genuinely needs to be enclosed, we will say so and arrange it rather than quietly putting it on an open bed. Ask when you book and we will tell you honestly which your car needs.

What condition record do I get?

Photographs of every panel, the wheels, the interior and any existing damage, taken at the collection address before loading and repeated at delivery. They are sent to you rather than kept on file, so you have them if you ever need them.

My classic has poor brakes and a heavy clutch. Does that matter?

It matters to the driver, who needs to know before they get in it. Cars with weak brakes are winched rather than driven onto the bed. Tell us anything unusual about how it drives and it will be handled accordingly.

Can you deliver to a show or auction on a specific morning?

Yes, and events are exactly the case for booking a dedicated single load. Give us the venue, the gate time and any pass details when you book, because show grounds usually have a load in window that is enforced.

The difference between moving a modern hatchback and moving a classic is not the weight, it is that nothing on a classic can be replaced from a parts shelf. Chrome, original paint, brittle rubber, an exhaust that hangs two inches from the ground. Every one of those turns an ordinary load into something that needs planning. We slow the job down accordingly, and we write down what the car looked like before we touched it.

Why chains and quick loading are the wrong approach

A modern car has designated recovery eyes and a subframe that will take a chain. A great many classics do not. Strapping over the tyres spreads the load through the wheels and suspension the way the car was designed to be held, and it leaves no marks on paint or plating.

Loading angle matters just as much. A long, low car with an overhang will ground out on a steep ramp, so it goes on over boards at a shallower angle, which takes longer and is worth every extra minute.

Shows, auctions and restoration shops

Event work has a deadline attached, so it is booked as a dedicated load with a delivery day rather than a window. Restoration deliveries are the opposite: usually flexible on date, but the car is often at its most fragile, part stripped and on temporary wheels.

Classic auction collections follow the same pattern as our other auction work, but with more time allowed on site for loading.
